To promote Sporting Detection, which gives any dog and handler the chance to experience working together as a detection team.

Instructor Background - Ryan-Ann obtained her obedience training certification at Canada West Canine Center in 2000. Since then she has accumulated 17 years of experience in dog training and behavior. She has worked as an obedience instructor, behavior modification consultant, Municipal Animal Control Officer, and as a Peace Officer with the Alberta SPCA.

She has attended multiple detection training seminars with Don Blair, canine training specialist with world-wide experience, and owner of Canine Intelligence; Russ Fox, professional detection handler and International IPO competitor; Jonathan Phaneuf, Narcotics Handler with Corrections Canada, Teresa Lewin, professional detection handler and attended the SDDA Judging and Scoring Seminars presented by detection professionals Pando Stepanis and Paul Dyer and judges Jean-Marc Dugas and John Mairs. Ryan-Ann has demonstrated and instructed Sporting Detection at several public events, seminars and classes.


Ryan-Ann is competes in SDDA Sporting Detection with two Dutch Shepherds, Kohlt and Charm. Kohlt has earned his SD-S-SP, SD-A-SP, SD-E-SP and is the first Alberta competitor to earn his SD-Elite title. He has also achieved both his SD-Champion title, SD-Master Champion. Charm has earned her SD-S-SP, SD-A-SP, SD-E-SP as well as her SD-Championship title.

Currently she works with 3 Dutch Shepherds, Kohlt, Charm, Knox and her small rescue pom X, Elliot. She competes with her dogs in both Sporting Detection and CKC/UKC/CARO Rally Obedience.
