The Dog Behaviourist Hastings

I am a qualified dog behaviourist, based in Hastings, East Sussex. If you have a problem with your dog, please contact me and I will be pleased to help.

I was a Veterinary Nurse for approximately 8 years and during this time I discovered a love for dogs and a genuine interest in their behavioural issues.

Whilst working in practice I took on three dogs, who were all due to be euthanased for various behavioural issues. I took on my first dog (a German Shepherd named Foxy) when I was around 18 years old. She had been very poorly treated and in appalling condition when I got her. She was the start of my passion both for German Shepherds and also for dog behaviour in general.

Then along came Charlie, the Burnese Mountain Dog. He was in a kind, loving home, but he was exhibiting dominant-aggressive behaviour towards his owners, who decided they couldn't cope with his behaviour and surrendered him to the practice. He got on so well with Foxy that I decided to take him on.

Finally, I took on Bruce, a Rottweiler who belonged to a friend. He was extremely hyperactive and she decided she would not be able to handle him anymore (he had managed to knock her over twice in less than a week of her finding out she was pregnant!). He was my most challenging of the three as he never really became tired and was always very high-energy.

My time of owning these wonderful dogs was a massive learning curve for me. There was a lot of trial and error to discover what methods worked to solve their behavioural problems and what didn't. All three dogs lived to incredible ages, but sadly they all passed away last year with various age related ailments.

Three years ago I decided that I would like to take my behavioural knowledge further, so I began a course studying canine behaviour. I finished the course and achieved my qualification this year (2016). I am pleased to now be able to offer behavioural consultations for anyone who has a dog with a problem behaviour.
