Loughton Rugby Club

LRFC is embarking on it's 60th season! Come & join the most sociable rugby club in Essex - we are always looking for new players of all levels.

Loughton Rugby club started life in 1955 as Loughton Old Boys RFC. The club was mainly formed by pupils at Brook school who were inspired by PE teacher Steve (Gordon Stephens) in the game of rugby.

Steve was the club's first chairman and coach, during this time the training and games took place at the school.

The clubhouse was built in 1969 at a cost of £8,400, and by this time, many of Steve's players had gone on to play for Essex and Eastern Counties and England.

The club has stood strong for the past sixty years and had its first rugby tour to Holland in 1980. The tours have continued over the years and the outfits have got more elaborate but the same strong team spirit runs through the club.

When you play for Loughton, you're not just playing rugby, you put on the shirt and you're part of a lifetime family who support each other on the pitch and off!
